Der erfolgreiche Karrieremann muss tagtäglich souverän Entscheidungen über neurotische Filmstars, unfähige Regisseure und betrunkene Drehbuchautoren treffen - für ein Privatleben bleibt dabei keine Zeit. Als er eines Tages jedoch die Engländerin Kathleen Moore kennenlernt und sich unglücklich verliebt, beginnt sein beruflicher Abstieg.
