Die Film Version von Galaxy Express 999 ist fast identisch mit der original Story. Der Hauptunterschied besteht darin, dass die Geschichte etwas komprimiert wurde. Normalerweise besuchen sie über hundert Planeten, wie sie es im original Manga und der Serie getan haben, Tetsuro besucht nur vier.
